It was reported in June 2020 that 'Joker' actor Joaquin Phoenix might be expecting a baby with belle Rooney Mara. Neither Phoenix nor Mara ever confirmed or denied the news.

However, now, director Victor Kossakovsky confirmed the news at a recent screening during the 2020 Zurich Film Festival. Joaquin was the executive producer on Victor's film 'Gunda'.

Kossakovsky said that Phoenix did not attend the event because 'he just got a baby'. Spilling more details he said, 'a beautiful son'.

He further went on to share a heartwarming moment, by revealing that Joaquin and Rooney named their son 'River'. The name also happens to be a loving tribute to Joaquin's late brother. River, the brother, died in 1993 in a tragic accident.

Joaquin had paid him a tribute in his Oscars speech. “When he was 17, my brother wrote this lyric, he said, ‘Run to the rescue with love, and peace will follow’,” the 'Joker' actor said at the end of his speech.

We could not think of a more beautiful tribute to River. Congratulations to the couple on their baby, and River for being blessed with such parents!
