Deadline reports that rumours of the The Dark Tower star playing the next Bond has been on for long, but Eon productions, which funds these movies, has been quiet about it for long.
Name of The Wire actor is buzzing now because director Antoine Fuqua revealed to The Daily Star that he had a conversation with James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli who feels that 'it's time' for an ethnic minority actor to star as 007 and she is certain 'it will happen eventually.'
It was Fuqua who put forth the Luther actor's name saying, "Idris could do it if he was in shape. You need a guy with a physically strong presence. Idris has that."
Keeping the debate alive, Elba had confirmed earlier that no one had approached him for the part. Continuing with the conversation, he later tweeted another cryptic post asking people to not believe the hype.

In the 21st century, Daniel Craig is the one who plays all the roles featuring the fictional British spy. He is even expected to play 'Bond 25' which would be his last.
