Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson passes away aged 48

Jóhannsson was known for scoring music for movies like 'The Theory of Everything,' 'Arrival,' 'Sicario.'

Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson, who won a Golden Globe for the movie The Theory of Everything died aged 48.

According to BBC News, the composer was found dead at his aparment in Berlin.

Jóhannsson recieved an Oscar nomination for 2015 crime drama Sicario and a Grammy nomination for 2016 Arrival starring Amy Adams.

Apart from scoring for movies Jóhannsson also released several solo albums.

In a statement, Jóhannsson's manager said on Saturday, "I lost my friend, who was one of the most talented musicians and intelligent people I knew."

Tributes poured in from filmmakers around the world.

Darren Aronofsky who worked with Jóhannsson on music for his controversial movie mother! (which was later vetoed) said in a statement, "Jóhann was a gentleman. He was a brilliant collaborator with a wholly unique approach to sound and music. This is a terrible loss.”
