House of Cards star Kevin Spacey has been accused of sexual misconduct by Star Trek: Discovery star Anthony Rapp. Rapp alleges that when he was 14 years old, Spacey, at the time 26, made an unwanted sexual advance.

At the time, both the actors were starring in different Broadway shows.

According to an interview with BuzzFeed News, Rapp reportedly recalled an incident at Spacey's Manhattan apartment in 1986. Rapp said that he spent most of the evening in a bedroom watching television. Past midnight, Rapp realised that the adults had left and Spacey was looking at him standing at the door.

"My memory was that I thought, 'Oh, everybody’s gone. Well, yeah, I should probably go home,'" recalls Rapp. Then Spacey allegedly picked up the actor 'up like a groom picks up the bride over the threshold' and laid on top of him. "But I don't, like, squirm away initially, because I'm like, 'What's going on?'" adds Rapp.

"He was trying to seduce me. I don’t know if I would have used that language. But I was aware that he was trying to get with me sexually,” alleges Rapp.

"I have a memory of turning around and (thinking), What was that? What am I supposed to do with it? What does it mean? The older I get, and the more I know, I feel very fortunate that something worse didn’t happen. And at the same time, the older I get, the more I can’t believe it. I could never imagine anyone else I know would do something like that to a 14-year-old boy," says Rapp.

In a statement given to Entertainment Weekly, Rapp said, "I came forward with my story, standing on the shoulders of the many courageous women and men who have been speaking out, to shine a light and hopefully make a difference, as they have done for me. Everything I wanted to say about my experience is in that article, and I have no further comment about it at this time."

Kevin Spacey's Response

Addressing the allegations made against him, the American Beauty star took to Twitter to post a note apologising for his 'drunken behaviour' 30 years ago. In a note, Spacey wrote that he owes the sincerest apology and he is 'sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him these years.'

Spacey's private life has always been a topic of discussion since over the years he emphasised on keeping his sexuality a private matter. But this time along with issuing an apology, Spacey came out as a gay man and said that he wants to 'deal with this honestly and openly.'

Under the spotlight of allegations made towards Harvey Weinstein, Bill O'Reilly, Mark Halperin, James Toback and others, Rapp said, "Part of what allowed the Harvey situation to occur was that there was this witting and unwitting conspiracy of silence. The only way these things can continue is if there’s no attention being paid to it, if it’s getting forgotten."
