On Sunday, Warner Bros released a tiny TV spot full of new footage for live-action Pokemon movie Detective Pikachu starring Ryan Reynolds as the yellow creature and Justice Smith as Tim Goodman.

The 30-seconds long teaser premiered during the NFC Championship game and gave a peek into other Pokemon that will be part of this futuristic retelling of the video game turned anime series turned motion picture.

The teaser is a perfect showcase for the sassy one-liners Ryan Reynolds is known for.  Reynolds started this brand of humour with his outing as a mutant superhero Deadpool in the Marvel licensed by Fox franchise (Don't mention it out loud. It's a touchy subject for Deadpool). Pikachu, voiced by Reynolds, lets it rip on shoulders of young Goodman after suffering from upset tummy thanks to coffee consequence. What kind of Pokemon are you, Pikachu if you can't handle your caffeine?

We get the first look at Snubbull who seems to be friends with Detective Yoshida (played by Ken Watanabe). Psyduck, Charizard, also Mr Mime, who famously took down Pikachu's pride in the first trailer of the movie, make an appearance.

Official Synopsis -

The story begins when ace private eye Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry’s former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself. Finding that they are uniquely equipped to communicate with one another, Tim and Pikachu join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City—a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pokémon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world—they encounter a diverse cast of Pokémon characters and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokémon universe.

Directed by Rob Letterman, Pokemon: Detective Pikachu also stars Suki Waterhouse, Kathryn Newton, Bill Nighy, Rita Ora, and Karan Soni in pivotal roles.

The movie is set to release on May 10, 2019.
