Disney's Mulan which streamed on Disney+ after skipping theatrical release is all set to be available in India soon. After being made accessible with a premium cost, Mulan will be streamed in India from December 4, 2020, on Disney+ Hotstar. The live-action adaptation will be available to all existing subscribers at no extra cost in English on Disney+ Hotstar Premium and dubbed in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on Disney+ Hotstar VIP.

Mulan directed by Niki Caro has an ensemble cast including Yifei Liu (Mulan), Donnie Yen (Commander Tung); Tzi Ma (Zhou), Jason Scott Lee (Böri Khan), Yoson An (Honghui), Ron Yuan (Sergeant Qiang) with Gong Li (Xianniang) and Jet Li (Emperor).

Earlier in a statement, Niki shared about directing the film by saying, "What drew me to this story was Mulan herself.  Her journey from village girl to male soldier to warrior and hero is a story that’s as relevant and as resonant as it was when it was first written centuries ago."

She further shared, "I think Mulan as a character means so much to fans because of her essential nature. She’s a dutiful daughter and a loving and courageous human being—but she’s also vulnerable and fallible.  And as a female character, she’s not a superhero. She’s human."

Mulan's premiere was held on March 9, 2020, however, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the theatrical release was postponed indefinitely. Eventually, the makers opted for an OTT release of the film which initially happened in the US followed by other countries with Disney+ app being available.
