Box Office: Day 1 collections of Priyanka Chopra's 'Baywatch' FAIL to IMPRESS!

Priyanka Chopra tried everything that she had to for her Hollywood release to be noticed in a big way. Well, in that aspect, one has to give it to her for going the extra mile, right from managing promotion in the US, India as well as other countries. She did it all amidst her many assignments out there in the West in addition to the various films in regional languages that she is producing in India.

However, when it came to the all important mission of making her Hollywood debut with Baywatch, it didn't really turn out as per plans because after being panned in the West, the film has now not opened well in India either.

The collections are less than the Rs 2 crore mark and that is quite low because even in the worst case scenario, one expected at least Rs 5 crore to come in for Baywatch. It is apparent that despite Priyanka doing everything in her capacity to take the film to the audience, the promos didn't promise much entertainment and that resulted in lack of footfalls in theatres on Friday.

Moreover, the reviewers haven't been kind either on the film and with word of mouth being negative as well, Baywatch is struggling in theatres. It would need some sort of a miracle to see a turnaround today though it seems difficult since the news is spreading fast around the film's content.
 
Comparatively, another Hollywood release Wonder Woman did better and that too with bare minimum promotion and push, or the presence of a known Hollywood star in India. The film did okay to go past the Rs 2 crore mark on its first day.
