Battling it out on social media

Be it Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat or Facebook, social media has rapidly become an outlet for celebrities to express themselves. And amongst the event announcements, breakup statements and general rants, stars have found a new medium to throw shade at each other. KIM KARDASHIAN WEST-KANYE WEST VS TAYLOR SWIFT

The trio, who have had an ongoing feud since 2009, made headlines last year when Kanye West’s track Famous was released with the singer referring to Taylor Swift as the ‘b**ch’ he made famous. According to Kimye, Swift had given permission to use those lyrics which she later denied. This August, Taylor released her single from her sixth album Look What You Made Me Do with lyrics referencing her feud with the couple and a video featuring a scene recreating Kim’s Paris robbery incident. This month, Kim shared an Instagram photo of herself clicking the bed from Kanye’s Famous video including a naked Swift. Barely an hour later, Swift responded with a series of pictures from her Vogue shoot with the caption, ‘I never trust a narcissist but they love me...’ sending fans of both feuding parties in a tizzy.

KATY PERRY VS DIPLO

Katy Perry and Diplo briefly dated in 2014. However, it was in June this year that the former couple dissed each other. During an interview, Katy was quizzed about her past partners and she ranked the music producer as her third most impressive lover with John Mayer taking the number one spot. When the story broke online, Diplo simply replied with a tweet, “I don’t even remember having sex.” A few minutes later, he posted a picture of himself perched on a scaffolding in front of a huge crowd with the caption, “I won the bronze metal in sex Olympics.”

RIHANNA VS AZEALIA BANKS

The two songstresses clashed at the beginning of the year over politics. Rihanna tweeted about US President Donald Trump post his ban announcement for citizens of Muslim countries from entering America. She tweeted, ‘Disgusted! The news is devastating! America is being ruined right before our eyes! What an immoral pig you have to be to implement such BS!!’ Azealia replied via Instagram suggesting that RiRi was using her influence to stir the public. ‘Stop chastising the president. It’s stupid and pathetic to watch. All of these confused people confuse other confused people.’ The pair continued their debate over Instagram photos and comments, with Banks finally taking it a notch too far when she posted Rihanna’s phone number with the caption, ‘Bombs away!’ The post was later removed.

CHRISSY TEIGEN VS DONALD TRUMP

Chrissy Teigen has been very vocal about her dislike for US President Donald Trump. Last year on his birthday, she posted a picture of him with the caption, ‘Happy birthday, you monumental a*shole.’ In July, Trump had enough trolling from the model. When he tweeted, ‘It’s very sad that Republicans, even some that were carried over the line on my back, do very little to protect their President,’ Chrissy wrote, ‘Lol no one likes you.’ (Sic) The next day, she was blocked by Trump and Chrissy rejoiced by posting, ‘After nine years of hating Donald J Trump, telling him ‘lol no one likes you’ was the straw.’

ROB KARDASHIAN VS BLAC CHYNA

Earlier this year, Rob Kardashian accused Blac Chyna, with whom he shares a daughter, of cheating on him. As revenge, he posted a series of naked images of his former fiancée on his Instagram account. When the photo sharing site shut down his account for violating the rules, Rob took to Twitter to continue his rant. ‘Since Instagram shut me down everyone peep my twitter lol’ (Sic), the reality star wrote, before reposting a text exchange between him and Blac that showed her genitals. He tweeted, “Just sad. Loved Chyna as my wife and accepted all the wrong she did and continued to ride for her and remain Loyal to her. Never did I cheat. We had a beautiful baby girl that was the best thing that’s happened to me and soon as that baby was born Chyna was out” (Sic). She replied to him on Snapchat suggesting that he was physically abusive towards her.

CHRIS BROWN VS SOULJA BOY

In January this year, the two musicians got into a fight over Chris Brown’s ex, Karrueche Tran. Soulja Boy tweeted, ‘Chris Brown just called me and said he wanna fight me because I liked @karrueche picture on Instagram this n***a a bitch.’ He went on ranting about him abusing his ex, Rihanna too, tweeting, ‘Chris Brown think he hard cuz he hit a woman. And jumped a fan at his house party on New Years LMAO you can’t fight B**ch do that s**t to me.” Eventually, Chris responded on Instagram putting up a few videos and memes making fun of the musician and also calling him out for his arrest. ‘You on probation for weapons and all that gangsta s**t you talk about and you get out less than 24 hours later?,’ Brown said on his Insta story. He ended the video by asking Soulja Boy to meet him for a boxing ring match, which finally didn’t happen.
