Game Of Thrones fame Richard Madden is reportedly on the top of the Barbara Broccoli's list to be the next James Bond after Daniel Craig.

Daniel is all set to star in the upcoming Bond 25, but fans are eager to find out who will play the iconic character next.

Rumour mills had it that Idris Elba was the main contender, but even Henry Cavill's name thrown around as well as Tom Hardy's. And while this is looking pretty far into the future, a source who claims to be close to Broccoli states that Richard Madden is the man for the job.

Richard essayed the role of Robb Stark on GOT and was murdered during the Red Wedding Massacre in season 3 of the show.

And now, it looks like the actor could be joining up with the James Bond franchise.

"It's seriously looking like he (Madden) is going to get the job," a source said, as quoted by Movieweb.

The source also said that Richard is on the top of Barbara Broccoli's list and that "she is preparing to offer the role."

Last month, Richard Madden's father revealed that his son was eager to play James Bond's character.

"I'm quite sure he does want that to be on his CV one day but he's not making a song and dance about it. Whether it's Bond or any big role, Richard has ideas about things he'd like to do. It's probably best whatever his desires or thoughts are to keep it to himself," Madden Sr added.

Earlier, James Bond producer Barbara commented on the speculation that a woman could be the next Bond, stating that she can't see that happening. Broccoli held firm that the character is a male, and that there can be other stories written for strong female characters, but not James Bond. However, she went on to say that she could see a woman taking over the directorial duties in the near future.

Meanwhile, Bond 25 is all set to begin production after Danny Boyle left the project. Cary Fukunaga of HBO's True Detective and Netflix's Maniac fame, is set to direct the film.
