From love stories to action-packed adventures, these movies are expected to be crowdpullers

The roster for the last four months of 2018 looks quite exciting, especially when it comes to English movies. It will have some highly-anticipated sequels across genres be it action, horror, adventure or sci-fi featuring heartthrobs and hotties. It’s a mixed bag, which has something for everyone. Out of the numerous films, here’s what piqued our interest the most...

A Star Is Born

This movie will be a first for two prominent people; one, the handsome actor Bradley Cooper, who will turn director, and second, it will feature Lady Gaga in a significant role. The film is essentially a tragic love story about a seasoned musician (Cooper), who discovers and falls in love with a struggling artiste (Gaga). She has almost given up on her dream to make it big as a singer until he coaxes her into the spotlight. As her career takes off, their personal relationship suffers as he battles his demons. 
When: October 5

Venom

Venom, a spin-off from the Spider-Man film franchise, releases later this year. The handsome Tom Hardy plays Eddie Brock/ Venom, an investigative journalist, who gets ‘incredible powers’ from the host of an alien symbiote. The movie also stars Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed and Woody Harrelson, to name a few.
When: October 5

Mowgli

One can never get bored of the classic tale of Mowgli. This live action-adventure film is helmed by English actor-director Andy Serkis and features child actor Rohan Chand, Freida Pinto and Matthew Rhys, and voices by Christian Bale (Bagheera), Cate Blanchett (Kaa), Benedict Cumberbatch (Shere Khan) and Serkis (Baloo). The trailer promises that Mowgli is going to be one hell of an adventure.
When: October 19

Halloween 

The slasher flick, starring funny man Mike Meyers and Jamie Lee Curtis, is the 11th instalment in the Halloween series. However, this is a direct sequel to Halloween (1978), conveniently ignoring previous films in between, and continues the plot that was established decades ago. Forty years after Nick Castle’s (Myers) killing spree in 1978, Laurie Strode (Curtis) comes face-to-face for one final encounter with him.
When: October 26

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

The much-awaited sequel to Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them (2016), is a spin-off and prequel to the Harry Potter series. This movie will see Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) escape after being captured in the last movie, and is recruiting wizards and witches to rule over the muggles. Dumbledore (Jude Law) asks his old student Newt Scamander, played brilliantly by Eddie Redmayne, to prevent Grindelwald’s evil plans. There’s lots of danger involved, lives are at stake and the wizarding community is divided on this issue. 
When: November 16

Mortal Engines 

This action-packed movie is based on the novel by the same name by Philip Reeve. Mortal Engines is set in a post-apocalyptic world where entire cities are motorised and move on wheels, constantly fighting and destroying each other. The movie is tipped to be first in its trilogy, and features Hugo Weaving, Stephen Lang and Robert Sheehan.
When: December 14

Mary Poppins Returns

The legendary Julie Andrews starred in the titular role in the original movie, Mary Poppins (1964). Twenty-five years later, Emily Blunt reprises the role in its sequel. In this follow-up flick, Blunt aka Mary Poppins visits the little siblings, Michael and Jane Banks, who are all grown up now, to help them overcome a personal loss. This is going to be a litmus test for Blunt, who is going to replace Andrews.
When: December 28

Aquaman

Ever since we saw a glimpse of Aquaman in Wonder Woman (2017), we’ve been waiting to see him get a movie of his own. Arthur Curry/ Aquaman is essayed by Jason Momoa, better known as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones. Post the events of Justice League, Curry, the reluctant ruler of Atlantis (the underwater kingdom) and his people have to fight it out against land dwellers who threaten their oceans.
