The post that won Gigi Hadid the racist tag

A controversial video of Gigi Hadid, that was initially uploaded by her sister Bella in February has resurfaced, and many people are accusing her of racism. In the video, Hadid appears to be holding up a Buddha statue and many believe she is mimicking the face and eyes of the enlightened one. While it has been deleted, copies of it have resurfaced. So, when Hadid recently confirmed that she would be appearing at a Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in the    Chinese city of Shanghai in November, it only got her more backlash as netizens took to social media to tell Hadid she is not welcome in China. However, this is not the first time she has been accused of racist behaviour. Back in November, during the American Music Awards, she performed a controversial impression of Melania Trump, mocking her accent. The impression was not received well at the time, which led to Hadid writing an apology and posting it on Twitter.

When Kelly Osbourne got it wrong

Sometimes one may have the right intentions but words fail you, as in the case of Kelly Osbourne. In response to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s outrageously racist positions on immigration, The View co-host had this to say. While Osbourne was probably trying to refute the politician when she said, “If you kick every Latino out of this country, then who is going to be cleaning your toilet, Donald Trump?” Her words came across as racist and inconsiderate. The comment sparked outrage on Twitter, prompting an apology from Osbourne. She wrote on her Facebook page, “I want to start by saying I ALWAYS take responsibility for my actions. In this particular case, I will take responsibility for my poor choice of words, but I will not apologise for being a racist as I am NOT. I whole-hearted f*cked up today. I don’t want to bullsh*t anyone with lame excuses.”

One fan even went to the extent of calling him out for his behaviour saying, “Bieber is actually disgusting. Man’s gone too far this time.” Another one posted, “Bieber – no excuse, no acceptable reason for racism. The use of the N-word is disgraceful and racism far too serious to ever be funny.”

Mel Gibson’s rant against Jews

Back in 2006, during his DUI arrest, Mel Gibson told a policeman that “Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world.” In 2010, several voicemails were released of the hot-headed actor and filmmaker going postal on his ex-wife Oksana Grigorieva. In one of his rants, Gibson wished that his ex got raped by a pack of the “n” word and in another, he referred to Mexicans as “wetbacks.” All his comments obviously earned him flak from fans across the globe.

John Mayer for his stupid statement

Alec Baldwin’s big blunder

Alec Baldwin’s life seems to have come full circle from being widely despised for his racist comments to being the talk of town for his Donald Trump impression. Long before the rave reviews, Alec made some pretty stupid comments on Twitter. When anger got the better of Rihanna

Rihanna may be popular for her music but she too has been called for her stupid behaviour. She posted a racist photo directed towards Chris Brown’s Vietnamese girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, that referred to her as “rice cakes.” There was also a line on the remix track Birthday Cake (a duet recorded by Rihanna and Brown) that alluded to Tran’s race.

Charlie Sheen’s brush with racism

Before his epic meltdown with the makers of Two-And-A-Half Men, Charlie Sheen made news because of his racists comments. A 2008 voicemail to his ex-wife Denise Richards contained the actor calling his wife the n-word. He can be heard saying, “You’re a coward and a liar and a f-cking n-gger alright, so f-ck you.”
