In Spider-Man: Homecoming, fans of the superhero get to see a stand-off between the superhero and super villain Vulture. Jon Watts is the man who orchestrated the fight between the two. Here are excerpts from a chat with the director...

What convinced you to bring on Michael Keaton for this role?
I wanted in the same way that Peter Parker is a regular kid who becomes a superhero, I wanted to come up with a villain, who was a regular guy who becomes a supervillain. And it had to be someone who was grounded enough that you would believe them as a regular guy but also had the way to carry the role of being the Vulture, being this antagonist for Peter and it was kind of always Michael Keaton. He is funny, he can be scary, he is really relatable and I wanted you to be able to relate to him almost as much as you would relate to Peter.

Is there anything happening at the end of the film, should we sit through the end of the credits?
You should sit through the credits. You will be so disappointed if there wasn’t something there/present.

What else has been lined up for you apart from this project?
It’s just this, I had to finish this before you do anything else. I should be working on it right now, there’s still a lot of work to do.

Do you think it was easier to work with Tom Holland because he had worked as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War before or did that really not matter much?
It was the tone of his performance and his relationship with Tony Stark had already been established. I was there when they were shooting that and it was great to see it, and it was a pretty awesome proof of concept.
