World Obesity Day: Dear parents, here is what you can do to prevent child obesity

Here are some healthy habits that a family can adopt, so that their child can stay away from bad food and lifestyle habits and in turn keep from becoming obese and overweight.

With India being ranked as the third most obese country in the world, the nation's future generation's health is at some serious risk. But parents can make sure their children don't become overweight or obese by following some practices for the entire family.

As per a Quint report, staying away from bad food and lifestyle habits can prevent obesity in children.

Here are some healthy habits that a family can adopt-

1. Food: Eating fresh, seasonal, home-cooked food at least few times a week
2. Exercise: Doing some form of exercise, such as yoga, or a gym work-out together as a family. This can help instil the habit of taking care of their own health in children.
3. Outdoor workout: Nature walks, hiking, biking or outdoor sports on weekends as a family activity can be a great form of exercise for everyone.
4. Regular health check-ups: Have your children get checked for conditions and illnesses which run in the family or due to the lifestyle of the family.
