Studying for MBBS and becoming a doctor is tough but it seems that finding a job as a doctor in the country is even tougher.

During a recent survey conducted to find the efficiency of existing job portals, doctors said that these web sites don't cater to their needs adequately.

94% of the 1,638 doctors questioned found the portals inadequate while 86% felt the need for a platform that specifically serves their needs.

Many felt that the existing job portals are very generic and require a lot of cumbersome steps for an application. Only 15% of doctors are, therefore, using job portals for job search and they still prefer newspapers and discussions for searching and applying for job.

Dr Mohan Kundal, Senior Resident Pediatrics, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Delhi said, "After studying hard for years, medical graduates deserve jobs and with the huge demand-supply gap of healthcare in India an exclusive job platform that can aggregate jobs according to location and specialty, can help to connect a doctor seeking job with a recruiter." 48% of the doctors who voiced their opinion want a platform that gives them job options tailored for them according to their specialty and experience.

28% wanted easy access to vacancies on mobile whereas 8 per cent wanted to apply for jobs on a single touch without any hassles of filling up their credentials everytime.

"Doctors are much under-represented in on-line community. Existing job portals are very nonspecific. We need dedicated job portal for doctors. That would really help young graduates," said Dr Ramkrishna Shenoi, Vice Dean, VSPMs Dental College, Nagpur.

Talking about the need of an integrated job portal, Nipun Goyal, Co-founder of Curofy -- a mobile only platform for doctors, added, "An exclusive job portal for healthcare will bridge the huge demand gap of doctors in tier 2 and tier 3 cities by enabling doctors from other cities to work on a part-time basis in these areas."
