How about a makeover that takes no more than five minutes, changes the way you look, dramatically, yet doesn’t burn a hole in your pocket?

Impossible, you might say, but cosmetologists are making this dream come true for many love-struck people this Valentine’s Day.

As both men and women try to put their best ‘face’ forward for Valentine’s Day, doctors say that cheap procedures taking minimal time are in demand.

Cosmetologist Dr Jamuna Pai, who runs Blush Clinics, said that this week has been busy for her with maximum requests from younger girls on lower budgets looking for quick-fix procedures.

“Besides skin brightening procedures, I have done a number of lip correction procedures like lip plumping, lip reduction and lip lightening in case of smokers. Most popular procedures are tear trough filling that helps remove bags and dark circles under eyes, dimple creation and jaw contouring. All these procedures cost between Rs7,000 and Rs20,000, and in less than five minutes the face undergoes a complete change,” she said.

Cosmetic surgeons agree that non-surgical procedures are most sought after during special occasions like Valentine’s Day, as surgical procedures have long recovery periods.

“There are two sets of people, those who come in at least six weeks prior to the D-day or those who come in at the last minute. For events like Valentine’s Day, we see the latter more often who think of a makeover only a couple of days before the occasion and are in need procedures with shorter recovery periods. Even a dimple creation job requires two days for the swelling to subside, but a non-surgical nose job is one-sitting OPD basis with no bruises and leaves the face looking smarter. I have done many nose and lip jobs through non-surgical methods in the last couple of weeks,” said Dr Sumit Saxena, plastic and cosmetic surgeon.

And if you thought cosmetic surgery is only sought after by women, doctors say that the number of men frequenting the clinics can be surprising.

“While it is true that women comprise the major chunk of the clientele, I have a lot of men coming with requests for a nose job like nasal sharpening or fillers to correct various conditions like baggy eyes. Young boys have a craze for dimple creation,” said cosmetic surgeon Dr Ashish Davalbhakta, founder of Aesthetics Medispa.
