You are most likely to suffer from cough and cold due to sudden changes in the environment. If you are one those numerous people falling prey to frequent cough and cold this season, then here’s a wonder remedy for you — herbal tea.

Although medicines might help you combat it completely, taking the natural route is always the best bet to reduce symptoms.

What makes it effective against frequent cough and cold?

Being packed with medicinal properties of black pepper, ginger, tulsi and cinnamon, this herbal infusion not only relieves your symptoms but also improves your immunity.

The antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties of these spices dislodge the mucus present in your throat along with reducing inflammation. Additionally, the presence of tulsi leaves in this tea acts as a powerful expectorant and also prevents further worsening of your condition.

How to prepare this tea?

Add four pods of cardamom (elaichi), four corns of black pepper (kali mirch) and four cloves (laung) in a mortar and pestle and grind them to prepare a coarsely ground powder.

Now, boil two cups of water. Add the above mixture along with few small slices of fresh ginger, tea and a small piece of cinnamon (dalchini) in the water.

Allow it to boil on low flame by covering the vessel for 10–15 minutes.

Strain the solution and drink this tea, when warm.

Alternatively, you can add little milk or honey to the decoction and consume it.

So, if you are experiencing sore throat (which may progress to cough), cold or cough, drink this herbal tea two times a day to combat symptoms of cough and cold.
