5 home remedies to combat skin problems during summer

As we all know dealing with summer is not really an easy task. It requires a good healthy diet along with consumption of the proper amount of liquids. The extreme heat exposure leads to a long trail of skin problems. Hence, apart from keeping the inner body at par you also need to maintain your skin and hair.

Sunglasses, head bands and a coat of sunscreen do provide some protection but you can also treat the range of sun damages from the below mentioned home remedies:

Prickly Heat

It is caused due to the friction between sweat and moisture present in the groves of skin because of  the blockage of sweat glands. It gives the sensation of inflammation and irritation on the skin. If you suffer from prickly heat, air the area and splash some cold water on it. Leave it open and apply sandalwood or talcum powder. Apply fresh Aloe Vera on it for relief. Also, wear loose cotton clothes to let the skin breathe.

Sunburn

Exposure to UV rays of the sun can cause inflammation and red patches on the skin. In such cases, soak the area in water mixed with one teaspoon of baking soda. Drink lots of water and juices. People with dry skin can cut using soap as it can dry it furthermore. Applying cucumber can on the area be a relief. Aloe vera gel or honey can smoothen the skin along with treating it. 

Skin peeling

Prolonged exposure can damage skin more, causing blisters and peeling of skin. This can be very painful. To treat this, apply cold compress on the skin to cool the patch, but do not use ice. Apply coconut oil to moisturise the skin. Yoghurt can also help cool the area and treat it. 

Thickening and drying of skin

Strong UV rays can age the skin, causing it to thicken and dry the skin. Using sunscreen regularly is a good precaution for this. Apply a cold fresh cream or a cactus-based cream on your face can rejuvenate. Once the skin soaks in the cream, you can wash it off with water.

Dark spots

Skin that is overexposed to the sun will be prone to dark spots. These spots can be lightened by applying buttermilk or full-fat milk mixed with 2 teaspoons of oatmeal on the face for a few minutes before washing it off.
