SNR Sons Trust, running city based Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, today entered into an agreement with GE Health care to offer training in various technical areas of health care.

The partnership will focus on bridging the skill gap in health care, technical or operating staff and GE Health care Education Institute, the training wing of GE Health care, will set up a state-of-the-art Advanced Health care Simulation Lab, to design, develop and execute the courses, Marut Setia, Head-Education and professional services--Africa, India, South Asia, ASEAN, told reporters here.

"Training and capacity building formed an integral part, given that skilled human resources within the health sector are extremely crucial and in limited supply in India,"he said.

Setia said the collaboration was aimed at providing these training to health care professionals as well as students with a robust technology platform.

Wipro GW Health care Chief Commercial Officer, Mandeep Kumar said that there are an estimated 5.8 billion people globally who do not not have access to quality health care.

"Our goal is to improve access to health care and skilling is an important element of that," he said.

In the first phase, the lab would be used to train the Biomedical Engineering students of Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College to make them industry-ready professionals, the managing trustee of SNR Sons Trust, R Vijayakumar said.

Subsequently, the plan was to offer advanced skill training to other health care professionals like doctors, nurses (working as well as students) and technicians from different regions, he said.
