A week before World Diabetes Day 2016 (November 14), Delhi Diabetes Research Centre (DDRC) is organizing a special screening program for people suffering from diabetes, free of cost, from 9 am to 4 pm tomorrow at Aggarwal Bhawan, east Punjabi Bagh.

The theme of Diabetes Day for the current year is ‘Eyes on Diabetes’ and DDRC will carry out a series of specialized tests for diabetic patients such as fundus examination for eye, albumin/creatinine ratio (ACR) for kidney and biothesiometry for foot, at free of cost for the patients. Entry is open for all suffering from diabetes.

The prevalence of diabetes in the age group of 20 to 79 years stood at nearly 9 per cent of the population in India. According to the International Diabetes Federation Atlas 2015, an estimated 69.2 million Indians are diabetic, which as per the WHO assessment, stood at 63 million in the year 2013.
