Now, when the country is reeling under the second wave of Coronavirus, experts have cautioned people about the third wave. You will be shocked to know that the third wave of Covid can have an adverse impact on your child’s health. Yes, you have heard it right! A large number of paediatric patients are affected during the second wave and this trend could continue during the third wave as well. Moreover, the numbers have increased as the children are still not listed to get vaccinated and will not have that much-needed protection against Covid. Till now, children were only considered as spreaders. But, during the second wave, even they contracted Covid.

Here are some foolproof tips for parents to help their children safe during the pandemic:

- Instruct your child to strictly maintain distance from people, if at all you allow visitors at home. Furthermore, it would be a good idea to just limit the visitors at home, if you have children at home. Even at home, see to it that you maintain a safe distance from your children if you are required to venture out of the house for work purposes or even to buy essentials. Tell your children to stay away from people who are coughing, sneezing, or have a fever.

- Encourage your children to wear masks even when they are in the house.

- Educate your children about COVID-19 and the importance of handwashing and hand sanitizing from time to time. Make it mandatory for your children to wash their hands after regular intervals.

- Do not allow your children to go and play outside. You never know, when the virus will enter your home with them. So, no outdoor activities. You can motivate your children to play indoor games like carom, chess, puzzles, painting, listening to music, dance and even watch educational documentaries with them. This will help your kids keep distracted from Coronavirus.

- As parents, you must try to disinfect frequently touched surfaces by kids. See to it that you clean the furniture, doorknobs, handles, countertops, faucets, keys, wallets, remote and other things in the house with a good liquid cleaner.

- If you notice any symptoms such as cold, cough, and fever in your children then immediately isolate them and consult your doctor. See to it that your child gets timely treatment.

- Refrain from giving negative information to your children as they can get scared. Help your children view information from trustable and credible sources or else they can panic.

- Help your children stick to a well-balanced diet that doesn’t consist of junk, oily, and processed foods. Tell your children to drink enough water and avoid carbonated drinks. Do not give them kadha or any herbal concoctions without the knowledge of the expert.
