1. Portion control

The importance of controlling your portions cannot be emphasized enough.  “One of the biggest mistakes people make when trying to lose weight or improve their health is only focusing on what they eat and not how much," says Paulette Lambert, nutrition director at California Health & Longevity Institute.

2. Track 'how much' you are eating

Count calories, literally. Medically supervised weight-loss programs stress on journaling the anmount of calories you intake.

3. Buy a food scale

To reinforce the habit of eating the correct amount of food, buy a food scale.

4. Avoid healthy food binge eating


Yes that too is a thing. People tend to overeat fruits such as bananas and avocado.

5. Cut down calories, literally

Chop the nuts for your salad instead of adding whole of it. Instead of directly adding oil, vegetables etc into the vessel, use a spoon so you avoid adding too much.

6. Read labels
