My cellphone has started to give me anxiety: Kiran S

Calls on mobile phones are an unavoidable part of our lives now, especially for a police officer. I did an analysis of phone calls I get during the day. The exercise was not futile. It did alarm me a lot. This analysis does not include the time spent on ‘mandatory’ whatsapp replies, replies to SMS, and twitter usage. I have avoided the inclusion of the umpteen missed calls too.

From September 23 to May 20, which is about eight months, I had recieved upto 62, 584 calls. This is an average of 263 calls per day. These are only on my official mobile number. Add to it, the calls on my private mobile and the landline — which adds to an average of ten more calls per day. My sleep is disturbed by late night calls.

We have to be alert if we get a pain or a ringing feeling in the ears after a long day on the phone. This could possibly be because of over heating of some parts of the brain. Whenever I am near my mobile phone I get a feeling that the phone is ringing.

Next time when your phone rings, please observe yourself and introspect. Brain damage is not too far away. Prioritising calls may be the solution, but not for me. The call I am not picking up will be from someone important for which I may later have to face flak.
