Health matters: Orthomolecular medicine
Harald Stossier

What is orthomolecular medicine?

Orthomolecular medicine is prevention and treatment with vitamins, minerals, trace elements and substances we have normally in our body. As by definition of Linus Pauling, orthomolecular medicine is preservation of good health and treatment of diseases by varying the concentrations in the human body of substances that are normally present in the body. So to stabilise these substances and to optimise their concentration in the body, it helps in general health, it helps in preventive medicine and it can treat a lot of different diseases. Even if it’s not the main cause of a disease, it helps us to reduce the complaints and balance the body in a way that our immune system or other regulatory processes can eliminate the signs and complaints of a disease.
