Krafton Inc, formerly known as Bluehole, founded in 2007 by Chang Byung-gyu, is the organisation behind one of the biggest blockbuster games in the industry, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Krafton Inc is all set to go public next month and with that, reports state, founder Chang Byung-gyu could be worth $3.5 billion if the Initial Public Offering (IPO) is priced at the top end of the given range.

According to a report in Business Today, Krafton is looking to raise $4.9 billion in what is presumed to be South Korea's largest-ever IPO. Byung-gyu is all set to hold 14 percent of the shares after the IPO.

Notably, the other parties that will benefit from the IPO are founder Byung-gyu's wife, CEO Kim Chang-Han, and Tencent Holdings.

Bloomberg report states that CEO Kim Chang-Han's stake could be worth $336 million and the founder's wife Chung Seung-hye could be valued at $206 million. On the other hand, Tencent Holding's 13 percent stake could be worth as much as $3.3 billion.

Krafton's IPO comes just one month after Seoul-based e-commerce company Coupang Inc raised $4.6 billion, the highest by a South Korean company.

Founder Byung-gyu has also vowed to donate stocks worth as much as 100 billion won to Krafton employees as a token of recognition.

Leader Index's Park Ju-gun told Bloomberg about the same, "These entrepreneurs who have built their businesses from scratch tend to relate more to inequality issues. They've also suffered to get where they are."

Byung-gyu had started his own business in 1997 but that was halted when he enlisted for military service. He later bought several gaming studios, including one founded by Krafton's current CEO Kim Chang-han. It was then that Chang-han pitched an idea for a battle royal game.
