'20 years of Lagaan': Director Ashutosh Gowariker reflects on convincing Aamir Khan to do the film

A timeless classic, a sports epic that saw the impeccable Aamir Khan essay the role of Bhuvan along with some superlative performances by the ensemble cast. Lagaan was only the third Indian film to be nominated for the Oscars after Mother India and Salaam Bombay. Starring superstar Aamir in the lead role, the film put India on the global map and much of the credit goes to the film's director, Ashutosh Gowariker who in a free-wheeling chat with DNA spoke about the time when the film was nominated for the Oscars but sadly did not win.
