Ishqiya
A good start is half the battle won. Ishqiya was unveiled in January, and set the tone for films the rest of the year – small, content-driven and different movies worked, while the biggies came a cropper. Aided by a Vishal Bhardwaj-score that boasted of songs like Dil Toh Bachha Hai Ji and Ibn-e-Batuta and lovely performances by Naseeruddin Shah, Vidya Balan and Arshad Warsi, Ishqiya, shot like a spaghetti western, gave the world a new cuss word too.
