The After hours review: 'Jism 2' — Sex, Sunny and Sri Lanka!

Not bad for a one time watch, if you have nothing else to do. But highly recommended, if Sunny’s Jism alone is entertainment enough for you.

The After hours review: 'Jism 2' — Sex, Sunny and Sri Lanka!

Film: Jism 2
Director:
Pooja Bhatt
Cast: Randeep Hooda, Sunny Leone, Arunoday Singh, Arif Zakaria
Rating: **

Since its launch, the film was being marketed as an erotic thriller. So, Sunny captured in all angles possible in lingerie that leaves little to imagination takes care of the erotic bit. For the thriller part, it’s Sunny to the rescue once again, as she provides all the edge-of-your-seat moments, heaving her bosom with such frequency and intensity that it keeps you guessing right till the end if she’s actually having an asthma attack. But apart from these two elements, the makers seem to have missed out on marketing its most vital ingredient — unintentional comedy — of which there’s no dearth. Every few minutes, the utter silliness of dialogues and situations leave you with a bemused smile, even if it’s a what-the-heck one. So, if an Indian Intelligence Agency called ‘The Agency’ asking a porn star to help them extract vital data from a top-notch assassin like their life depends on it, isn’t bizzare enough what is? Or wait till you hear Arif Zakaria as Guru, the head of this agency utter some of the most hilarious dialogues that could come out of someone in charge of the so-called desh ki security. A scene where he rants and raves like a lunatic at Arunoday easily takes the cake. The story of course is merely forced between love-making scenes, gaining an edge over the sex bit only in the last 15 minutes or so (not that it’s much of a story even then), by when it’s anyway too late to redeem for the lack of it in the previous hour.

If you still want the story, well here it goes. Izna (Sunny) is a porn star who indulges in a one-night stand with Ayaan (Arunoday). Ayaan is actually a man on a mission wanting to use Izna’s services to hunt down an honest cop-turned-dreaded assassin. (No one explains why he had to sleep with Izna for that!). Anyway he offers her Rs 10 crore to hook up with this assassin and get vital information. Tumhe sab kuch karna hai. Sab kuch…, this Agency boss tells Izna. It is revealed that the terrorist in question is Kabir (Randeep), Izna’s ex who had abruptly left her one fine night, about six years ago. So begins mission Jism!

Sunny cleavage-walks through her parts, and seems rather camera friendly when doing what she apparently does best, and we are not talking about her acting skills here. But to be fair, she makes love to the camera effortlessly and Pooja (director) has smartly oscillated between her face and ‘ass’ets, to let the body do the talking instead of her expressions. Arunoday is strictly average, and suffers further because of the badly-etched character. Of the only five characters in the film, Randeep easily is the only actor. He manages to bring in some gravitas to the happenings and brings in an intensity that goes beyond the love-making scenes here. But as a man fighting his inner demons, it would have been better if he didn’t have to fight the dialogue-baazi, which instead of adding weight to his character actually weigh him down with their unimpressiveness. The music is not wow, though the Maula song stays with you long after the movie. What is wow here though is the cinematography, whether it’s capturing erotic Sunny or exotic Sri Lanka, it makes for a great visual appeal. Overall, not bad for a one time watch, if you have nothing else to do. But highly recommended, if Sunny’s Jism alone is entertainment enough for you.
