Review: The dance has no chance

Film: Chance Pe Dance (U/A)
Director: Ken Ghosh
Cast: Shahid Kapoor, Genelia D’Souza, Mohnish Behl, Parikshit Sahni
Rating: **

The film industry attracts thousands of hopefuls every day. Most don’t make it. But the struggle continues… Chance Pe Dance tries to present the story of one such young man.

What bogs the film down is that it’s too predictable. The story doesn’t have the zing to keep you hooked and it unravels at such a lethargic pace that it makes you yawn.

The only thing you carry home is Shahid Kapoor’s earnest performance. This time, unfortunately, the shoddy script nullifies the actor’s efforts.

Chance Pe Dance is the story of a talented and passionate Sameer [Kapoor]. Positive and brimming with energy, he juggles various jobs while pursuing his dream of making it on the big screen.

In his journey, he is helped by a spirited choreographer Tina (D’Souza). Eventually Sameer realises that life gives you one chance.

Director Ghosh has filmed a few scenes well, especially the one at the interval when a heart-broken Sameer finds solace in his students.

Adnan Sami’s music is okay. The movie lacks a hit number. But the choreography is top notch (Ahmed Khan, Marty Kudelka).
Shahid’s sincerity shows in many scenes. His dances are exceptional. Genelia looks cute and provides some pleasant moments, but her role doesn’t demand histrionics. Mohnish Bahl is mediocre. Parikshit Sahni is getting typecast as the father.

This dance stands no chance!
