Review: 'Pairon Talle' could have been better executed

Film: Pairon Talle
Director: Sidharth Srinivasan
Cast: Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Saba Joshi, Avtar Sahani, Geeta Bisht, Manav Kaushik
Rating: **1/2

Though the issue of land politics has not been given much importance in commercial Hindi cinema, Sidharth Srinivasan has taken a bold step in portraying this issue in the Delhi-NCR area.

Pairon Talle revolves around Bhanu (Divyendu Bhattacharya), a poor watchman, who is dedicated and exceptionally loyal to his master. He is the care taker of a royal silica mine for a few years.

Bhanu and his wife Saroj (Saba Joshi) live in a small world where the only thing they know is obeying the orders of their master Lakmichand Ahlawat (Avatar Sahani). The story shows how the couple becomes victims of the wealthy, those involved in land politics. Ahlawat treats Bhanu as his slave and sexually exploits Saroj, who bares it all to meet her daily ends, waiting for her husband to take a stand on it. The helplessness in her eyes and the pain she is going through is heart touching.

After Ahlawat's daughter Twinkle (Geeta Bisht) elopes with her lover, he takes matters in his hand.

The director fails to explain a sudden change in the characters' personality. A man who is neck-deep in corruption needs a solid reason for an immediate personality change.

Another plothole in the movie is that there is no concrete reasoning as to why Bhanu and Saroj were silently exploited. The film has a lot of violence and unwanted gory scenes which can be emotionally traumatising.

All in all, the movie touches an important social issue but could have been executed in a much better way.
