Cast: Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren
Rating: **

Twenty years after the last one hit the screens, Universal Soldier franchise returns with Regeneration — the original duo Dolph Lundgren and Jean-Claude Van Damme getting into their pulverising act yet again. The action is definitively much better and provides enough thrills to keep you interested.

A rogue Next Generation UniSol (NGU) monster (Andrei Arlovski) shuts down every last rescue attempt made by government agencies to capture the terrorist kidnappers of the children of the Eastern European prime minister. Desperate, the government brings in retired UniSol operative Luc Devereaux (Jean-Claude Van Damme), reprogramming him for war. Luc discovers old nemesis Andrew Scott (Dolph Lundgren) has been cloned and set loose from his mind-control prison, complicating the rescue mission at hand.

Director John Hyams and his cinematographer father Peter Hyams complement each other while providing exciting skirmishes, high-voltage action and blisteringly rough poundings. It’s fun if you love unfettered action!
