Gone for a toss

On their return from a holiday, a group of six friends chances upon a treasure that could change their lives forever.

Gone for a toss
Film: Toss
Cast:  Prashant Raj, Rannvijay Singh, Aarti Chabria, Ashmit Patel
Director: Ramesh Khatkar

On their return from a holiday, a group of six friends chances upon a treasure that could change their lives forever. A moment’s decision has a long-lasting and negative effect on their lives. Greed and suspicion begins to tear them apart.

Living in sprawling houses in Goa, they hardly seem to be needy, yet the lure of money corrupts their heads. Hot on their heels are the real owners of the loot – two and a half men (Mahesh Manjrekar, Sushant Singh and a child), and a cop (Zakir Hussain) called DaCunha who speaks in an accent that is anything but Goan.

Toss turns into an inexplicable bloodbath where you are grateful that Rajpal Yadav meets with an early bludgeoning but, while the filmmaker tries to keep you in suspense till the end, the motive of the killer is shallow and the resolution unsatisfactory.

Some inexperienced and shaky acting (especially by newcomers Rannvijay Singh, Madhureema and Shruti Gera), a contrived plot and  unoriginal filmmaking style, and
you just don’t give a toss about this movie.
