Shaun the Sheep Movie Review: Watch it to enjoy the simple pleasures of life
Shaun the Sheep Movie

Rating: ****
Cast: Justin Fletcher, John Sparkes, Omid Djalili
Directed by: Mark Burton, Richard Starzak

What's it about:
When the farmer catches his forty winks and the sheep dog Bitzer gets hoodwinked after being thrown a bone, Shaun the sheep (who has just about had enough of a boring-as-hell daily routine) has his way about the farm. That is, until Bixter wisens up and sees the bone thrown his way as bait for what it is.  While Shaun and the sheep have stashed the farmer in a caravan on the farm, a little accident involving Bitzer trying to rescue his master, ends up in the caravan wheeling away -- farmer and all -- down the road and all the way to the big city.

An accident renders the farmer an amnesiac with no idea he has a home to get back to. Will Shaun get him back and survive the big city at the same time?

What's hot:
It's a simple, straightforward, charmer of a story set on a farm. Using stop-motion animation, it brings alive the animals on the farm in a way that doesn't just bring a smile to your face, but ensures it stays there, long after the film is done. The film, despite its simplicity, is ambitious, in its take on the rural versus urban life and the bridge that joins the two. The animals might be mute for the most part, but they emote with their expressions. Kudos to the team at Aardman Animation for that. And yeah, you gotta love the catchy soundtrack!

What's not:
Very little fault to find here, except that the film could do with a shorter runtime.

What to do:
Take your kid to this one or watch it to relive the time you were a kid and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. And yes, don't miss the end credits!
