Director MD Sridhar might have adapted the script of the Telugu film, Chukkallo Chandrudu for his Kannada film, but he made some definite improvisations to suit the audience.

With beautiful locations and stunt sequences — the director has definitely made an effort to suit the masses as well as families who love Kannada films.

Sagar revolves around Prajwal Devraj’s character, also called Sagar, who returns to Bangalore after finishing his education in Australia.

Upon his return, his parents insist that he marry his relative, Priyanka (Haripriya). But neither of them is interested simply because they’re not in love. Therefore, they decide to find other people.

Sagar, with the help of his friend Jenny (Sanjjanaa) pretends to have a girlfriend called Kajol (Radhika Pandit); he even lies to his parents that Kajol has agreed to come to Bangalore for him and that they should all go to the airport to receive her.

As fate would have it, Kajol comes to Bangalore and complicates things for Sagar who has, in reality, never met her.

Meanwhile, Sonu (Dev Gill) comes to the city in search of Kajol. Why? What happens next? And whom does Sagar actually pair up with? That’s what the film is all about.

As far as performances go, Prajwal’s acting has surely improved and among the heroines, it’s Radhika Pandit who walks away with the honours.

The other leading ladies too have done their best in the film — be it dancing to some interesting tunes or playing out their part. Even Dev Gill is quite convincing in his negative role.

All in all, Sagar passes the test for being an entertainer, as long as you’re not looking at some deep inner meaning or a hidden message.
