Review: 'Love, Breakups, Zindagi ' is clichéd, but fun

For a change, let’s forget about the love story between the two main characters of the film — Dia Mirza and Zayed Khan. That one is too predictable.

There is a more interestingly love story that happens side-by-side with the main love story — between a younger Cyrus Sahukar and an older Tisca Chopra. Cyrus despite being young is twice divorced and around thirty, while Tisca is 38 years old. Tisca is never married and is slightly ‘off-centred’ (whacky and likes not to tread the beaten track). Cyrus’ friend Zayed calls her ‘Masi’ which makes Cyrus see red. Love blossoms as they start meeting more frequently. There is also a sweet scene where Tisca prepares noodles for Cyrus almost like she is mothering him — it will perhaps remind you of the older woman you always had a crush on. Tisca fits into the role perfectly.

Coming back to the main love story, it is about Zayed and Dia meeting at a wedding, and falling in love with some unexpected twists in between as the daadi suddenly kicks the bucket. The story is predictable, but the characters deal with it nicely carrying it forward at a comfortable pace so that you don’t lose attention or focus. There are some points in the movie (like the beach scene of Dia, Zayed and a friend) which doesn’t seem to contribute to the pace of the film or the story.

The director has taken a good decision by not putting an airport chase sequence in the film and the leading pair saying ‘I love you’ as they miss their flight. It is not there, hence you can go and watch the film for sure.
