What’s it about:

Imagine the visuals of Tangled meeting the music of The Lion King. Disney returns to top form with Frozen an enchanting tale of magic, sisterhood and mystery set against the icy backdrop of a Nordic kingdom. Elsa (Idina Menzel) and Anna (Kristen Bell) are sisters, but their bond isn't ordinary.  Elsa has the magical power or rather curse of turning everything she touches into ice by the wave of hand. They grow up realizing the world around them is changing faster than they can imagine. Unable to deal with her inhuman ability to freeze everything Elsa flees the kingdom never to return back. Now it’s up to her sister Anna who meets a good looking blond mountain guy Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), and a colorful snowman named Olaf (Josh Gad) who help her search Elsa.

What’s hot:

The 3Din Frozen is just sunning. Not once do you feel its gimmicky or out of place.  The landscapes despite being covered in a fleet of ice look incredible. Attention has been paid to detail and the characters are reminiscent of Disney classics like Alladin and The Little Mermaid. A lot of credit also goes to the voices behind these lively faces. Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel do a superb job as sisters and bring diversity to their roles. Josh Gad as the dorky snow man Olaf gives a stand out performance. Trust every kid to want an Olaf figurine on his night stand.  Frozen also works because of its music, especially Menzel’s Let it Go track being a major high light. There is a lovely pace to the story line and an old school vibe to the narrative that has been missing in animation films for a while.

What’s not:

Those expecting a brand new story with an unique twist in the climax might be disappointed. Most of what you see on screen is very traditional and safe in keeping with the genre. Also the sketching and appearance of the characters is a bit stereo typed. The core audiences that will be most pleased with the tone of the film are teenage girls who will possibly identify with Anna and Elsa’s track.

What to do:

A must watch for a fans of animation classics, Frozen has everything going for it – beautiful visuals, melodious sound track and a heartwarming story line. Cast:  Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Josh Gad, Santino Fontana, Alan Tudyk, Ciaran Hinds, Chris Williams
