Who is Ekta Kapoor's guru?

Actor Aamir Khan’s film promotion tactics are slowly getting a star following, and first among them is filmmaker Ekta Kapoor. Sources say that she consulted the star about marketing her latest paranormal film.

Kapoor admitted to After Hrs that that there are a few marketing tactics that she would love to lift from Aamir’s book. “His marketing tactics are innovative, but that doesn’t mean that I’m lifting the ideas; I’ve tweaked them to suit my film,” says Kapoor.

Sources say that Kapoor and Khan  met at an event recently. She then walked up to the actor and asked if he could suggest a few tips to market her forthcoming film that has no stars in it.

Following the casual chat with the actor, Kapoor came back with the idea of targeting Mumbai’s auto-rickshaws, instead of putting up posters everywhere.

“The actor had come up with the idea to use stickers on auto-rickshaws that read ‘Capacity: 3 Idiots’ to promote his film 3 Idiots. Now, Kapoor too has done a similar thing by putting up a message on the auto-rickshaws,” says a source.

She admits that she’s on a nation-wide tour to promote her film. “I am acting as the star as there’s nobody in my film who people can recognize. For the first time, I think, a producer has had to take up an actor’s place, but I can’t help it. Different ways of marketing film without splurging is an absolute necessity for me,” she said.
