Which heroines will rock Bollywood this year?

Last year Bollywood had more than its share of surprise hits and some unexpected flops, but trade analysts predict that it was nothing in comparison to what Bollywood will witness at the box office this year. “There’s more at stake this year and it’s only getting bigger and better not only for actors but actresses too,” they say.

Trade analyst Komal Nahta points out that unlike last year,  the actresses are riding on much higher numbers in terms of films in hand. “But more than the numbers, it’s interesting to watch out for their performances too, since there’s a line-up of impressive film-makers,” he says.

Trade pundit Amod Mehra seconds this saying, “It’s going to see them in more hatke roles. And though it’s hard to talk about it in terms of money riding on them, since it’s still hero-driven, there’s no doubt that it’ll be interesting to follow their race for the crown,” opines Amod.

Leading the Bolly-frat actress pack, according to trade analysts, is Kareena Kapoor, who fresh from last year’s success with Golmaal 3 has five biggies in her kitty. Next up are Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Kangna Ranaut who have four each in hand, followed by Vidya Balan whose latest release apart, the actress is looking forward to her next two, apart from several cameos.

Sonam Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha have three films on hand, while Katrina Kaif has only two films so far.

Interestingly, Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan and Kajol seem to be out of action on the film scene as of now, while newcomer Anushka Sharma seems to be waiting in the wings with one film in hand.

“Kareena clearly has a good lead and the biggies, but in terms of performance Priyanka and Vidya would be far more interesting to watch out for as they are in more heroine-centric films than others,” feel film-makers.
