Where’s the (card) party?!

Diwali is just around the corner, and as always is a tradition in Bollywood, the industry’s gearing up for the year’s biggest taash parties hosted by the filmi brigade.

This year, all eyes (or should we say chips) are up for the newest entrant to the card party scene this year, actor Shilpa Shetty who with hubby Raj Kundra has invited just about everyone from the industry, except for former beau, actor Akshay Kumar, say sources.
Film families, the Kapoors (Jeetendra and Ektaa) and the Roshans are the veterans of hosting the biggest taash parties in Bollywood, and are known to attend each other’s parties as well, but this year Ektaa’s taken over the baton and the party’s expected to be a hub of much masti.

Producers Firoze Nadiadwala and Sajid Nadiadwala too are expected to host their big card party. Actor Sanjay Kapoor too is planning to raise the party meter by several notches, as is music producer Kishen Kumar.

Director Sanjay Gupta will not be hosting a card party, but a Diwali bash with food and firecrackers taking centrestage. Filmmakers Farhan Akhtar and Riteish Sidhwani will be missing their big bashes here as they are shooting in Germany, but are planning to host an informal taash party there. Actor Shabana Azmi and lyricist Javed Akhtar, however, are gearing up for their party here. Actor Anju Mahendroo too is expected to host her annual taash party.
The Bachchans also are known to host a traditional card party but only with some close friends including filmmaker Goldie Behl and wife Sonali, which is more a custom than a Bolly brouhaha.

Actor Aamir Khan who had organised a hit Diwali party last year, has no such plans this year, but might attend some. Actor Sanjay Dutt who has his hands full with being a new dad, will not be having one this year So, who will host the biggest taash party this year? Watch this space!
