What’s cooking between 'maama-bhaanja jodi', Aamir Khan and Imran Khan?

Actor Aamir Khan, who introduced his nephew, actor Imran Khan to Bollywood with film Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, has always been inundated with queries about a film with the maama-bhaanja jodi in it. But it seems like he’s now toying with the idea of doing a film with his nephew when he almost gave away the fact at a press conference recently.

The actor  recently unveiled his ‘item boy’ act  in his home production that has Imran playing the lead hero. When asked if the duo will be seen together in the film, Aamir reacted, “In this film, my role ends at the special item song. Besides, it’s Imran’s film, so you will see a lot of him. But you will see us together,” he said. There was no reference after that, but the statement was enough to give away the fact that there was a plan to work together.

The actor then went on to elaborate the reasons that enticed him to bite the ‘item boy bait’.  The song called Disco Fighter  with its retro look brings to mind another Khan’s songs — Shah Rukh Khan, who’s went retro in movies like Om Shanti Om and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

Aamir, however, says that he did the item number at his wife, filmmaker Kiran Rao’s behest. “Kiran was the one, who actually suggested that I do an item song. I had a great time shooting and dancing to this number. I was absolutely comfortable with the dance steps too. I would love to do another one,” he said. “I would like to become the No. 1 item boy and accept a National award for it.”  Was that a dig aimed at actor Katrina Kaif who reportedly made a statement that item songs too should be considered  for the National awards.

Aamir is quite keen to show his good friend, actor Salman Khan his item boy debut act. “I am waiting to show my song and film to Salman. He is a very dear friend and I value his feedback,” he said adding, “Salman has done quite a few dance numbers so there’s no question of competition. He’s far ahead of me in this.”
