Wake up Farah Khan!

Filmmaker-turned-actor Farah Khan describes her role in Bela Sehgal’s Shirin Farhad Ki Nikal Padi, that also marks her acting debut, as tailor-made for her. But that didn’t keep Farah from snoozing off, during the breaks  while shooting late in the nights, or even when the scene was being canned. Farah herself admits that it was a real task trying to stay up at four or five in the morning during her shoots. “It’s hard for me to stay up beyond 10, so shooting for night shifts got a little too much,” she reveals. “Also we had been doing it regularly for over 40 nights so I would just doze off or keep yawning in the middle of the shot sometimes. I felt so jet-lagged,” she laughs.

“I am not a night person at all. In fact, even during parties that I have to attend, I barely make it past 11 pm and am always in a rush to get back home. I hate working night shifts and even as a director would always avoid it,” adds Farah.

Admitting that yawning and dozing off every now and then by the time they called for a pack-up, was embarrassing, she says that fortunately for her, co-star Boman Irani and director Bela both understood her plight. “You know, in a way the night shifts were good, because they gave me time through the day to be with my babies, but then it did get tiresome and I’m glad that everyone understood why I kept nodding off in between,” explains Farah.

The director adds that though she thoroughly enjoyed working on this film produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, this will be her first and last acting project. “This one was a role of a lifetime, and now that I’ve tasted blood, I would never settle for anything less. So, this well could be my first and last role as an actor,” says Farah. As for taking up a role in brother, director Sajid Khan’s film, Farah waves it off. “Never, he will only give me some retarded role, I am sure,” she laughs.
