Unaware about 'Guzaarish' copyright row, says Sanjay Leela Bhansali

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, whose upcoming film Guzaarish is facing controversy over copyright, said he was clueless about it and that UTV Motion Pictures would give legal reply in the case.

"I don't know anything about this. I don't want to get into all this. UTV Motion Pictures would give a legal reply to the notice," 47-year-old director told PTI.

Novelist Dayanand Raajan had claimed that the plot of the film was plagiarised from his unpublished novel Summer Snow.

"The film has many similarities with my novel including the main plot, the love story, the hero being wheel chair bound due to accident and even the mercy killing. I had shown my novel to few people in the industry but I have no idea who leaked it," Raajan said.

Raajan had sent a notice to UTV Motion Pictures and Bhansali demanding an explanation on the similarities between the movie and his novel.

"One fine day before the release of the film people say their content or story or plot has been plagiarised," Bhansali said.

The film will hit cinema houses on November 19.

Guzaarish starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in lead roles, explores the life of a paraplegic and deals with the moral and emotional implications of mercy killing.
