TV couple Sai and Shakti are eyeing the big screen with a ‘home-made’ project.

TV couple eye big screen with home-made project
After appearing in several serials on television – together or separately – Shakti Anand and his wife Sai Deodhar seem to have fallen out of public gaze. In case anyone is wondering where they are, here is the answer.

The couple is getting ready for their big screen debut. They are wooing the silver screen with Ghar-aunda. This is a movie where family members are involved in almost all aspects.

Sai and Shakti are acting in the film which has been directed by Sai's mother Sharbani Deodhar (who earlier directed Silsila Hai Pyaar Ka starring Karishma). The cinematography is by her father Debu Deodhar.

"I am very excited. We are almost done with the post production of the film and it's going to have an early 2009 release. We have been involved with it from the start to the finish. As it's a home production, responsibility comes with it too besides acting," Sai says.

Ghar-aunda is a feel-good comedy, the kind that Hrishikesh Mukherjee used to make in the past. "The movie is one of those Rajnigandha kind of films which will leave a smile on your face. I don't want to reveal the plot but interestingly Shakti and I have not been paired opposite each other," she adds.

When Sharbani was scripting the movie, Shakti and Sai were busy with Ek Ladki Anjaani Si. "The show was supposed to wind up, but the channel gave it extension for one year and it dragged on endlessly. As soon as the show went off-air, we immediately contacted mom to know whether she has started casting or not. And then we came on board," she says.

Both Sai and Shakti have been out of the limelight for quite sometime. "We have been doing TV for a long while and wanted to explore something new. After making it big on TV, we could afford to experiment a bit. I have never said that I won't do television. For the moment, I am waiting to see the response of the film. Next, I want to do TV specially a reality show," Sai ends.
