On legendary singer Mohammed Rafi’s 30th death anniversary, his son Shahid Rafi is announcing the launch of the Mohammed Rafi Academy in a high-profile event on 31st night.
But the most interesting news is that for the first time Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle are set to impart their musical knowledge to the students of the academy.
Shahid says, “Yes, I am trying to invite people from our music industry and people who all have been associated with dad to take their blessing.” Shahid is inviting people like Shammi Kapoor, Dharamendra, Dev Anand and Rishi Kapoor, Amit Kumar and Nitin Mukesh for the event.
“I want his name to be remembered as long as we have music as part of our lives. When we started getting requests from fans all over the globe to open an academy, I thought this is a good day to do it,” he adds. The academy will have Raju Naushad (Naushad’s son), Andalib Majrooh Sultanpuri (Majrooh Sultanpuri’s son), Ruhan Mahendra Kapoor (Mahendra Kapoor’s son) and Firdaus Shahid Rafi (Rafi’s grandson) in it.
