‘There is no unity here’

Sohail Khan says the three big Diwali releases are nothing short of hara-kiri.

‘There is no unity here’

The producer in Sohail Khan laments that top stars of the industry are busy eating into each other’s revenue pie as he admits that his much-hyped Diwali release has suffered because of two other movies releasing at the same time.

“No one is united in the industry. Everyone is bothered about their own product. But they fail to understand that by doing so they are causing harm to the industry. Three Diwali releases is a suicidal thing. People are just paying fines for delaying release dates. All the movies have taken a hit due to this. Actors should come forward and take a decision to avoid each other’s releases so that every film can do clean uninterrupted business,” Sohail says.

He also feels that critics need to review movies on Mondays and not on Fridays as reviews can make or break a film. “I think reviewers should give a clean three-day run to every film and leave it on audiences to choose which one to watch. By writing a film off on a Friday, they indirectly cause a lot of harm to that movie and business definitely gets affected by such scathing reviews. Moreover, not many critics are unbiased today.

Campism in Bollywood is rampant and one critic owing allegiance to a particular star tends to trash the movie of his rival,” he ends.
