If Kareena Kapoor can do it, so can Katrina Kaif. While Bebo is planning to tie up with an international brand for a signature line, Kat is toying with the idea of opening an entire fashion house. After Hrs has learnt that Katrina’s dear friend and stylist Rocky S will either be a partner or an advisor on this ambitious project. Sources say she might open retail chains across India and that her fashion house might also have a modelling wing to groom new talent.
“I do have such plans, no denying it, but it is premature to talk about them. I know I want to start this in a big way. Rocky has been a dear friend for many years and he will be very much in my scheme of things, but all this will take time. It is a major business plan that I have been silently working upon,” confirmed Katrina. “I trust Rocky blindly when it comes to getting myself styled. If I don’t like an outfit given by him, he does not take it otherwise. He trusts my judgement and gives me the freedom to voice my opinion on how I’m looking. I can’t think of not consulting him on anything related to fashion,” she adds.
While on one hand she is planning to invest in a business, on the other, she’s opening her purse for an entirely altruistic reason — a new nursery school for orphans that will be managed by her mother Suzanne. “I’ll always try to support my mother. She wanted to open a new nursery school for abandoned children and we needed around Rs30 lakh. We’ve managed to raise the money comfortably,” she says.
Much of the money, we learn, came from Katrina keeping aside some percentage from her various brand endorsements for the cause.
With several successful films and major brands in her kitty, a recent online poll ranking her ‘Sexiest Asian Woman Alive’ certainly helps. But Kat, though flattered, takes it with a pinch of salt. “I’m sexy in an unconventional way, not like the popular meaning of the word which is more like ‘oomphy’ and ‘seductive’. I think people find me sexy because of how I look and how my movies are faring. In 2009, many of my films released and thank God all of them did well. I guess that’s why I was on the top of people’s minds.”
