If you enjoyed watching The Godfather and Raging Bull, here is another version of it — in the form of a pictorial story. Model-turned-actor Bikram Saluja has come up with this interpretation. The photographs have been shot by Ronny Sequeira and Hardeep Sachdev.

The book titled An Actor’s Inspiration progresses picture by picture telling the story in chronogical order. “I was fascinated by the performances of Al Pacino and Robert De Niro in The Godfather Raging Bull, respectively. So, I thought of making a pictorial story out of it,” he says.

Saluja’s version of the films is set in India. While The Godfather is about a young man who is dragged into his family business due to the sudden death of his father, Raging Bull is about a Parsi boxer whose excessive rage crosses all boundaries and destroys his relationships. Saluja poses as both the characters in the photographs.

The biggest challenge, however, was to capture action sequences in photographs. “It requires a lot of diligence and detailing while trying to capture the kid of action you want to show in still photographs. We had to take hundreds of photographs for a particular shot to get it perfectly right,” he says.

The book has been duly authorised by the copyright holders of the films — Paramount Pictures (The Godfather) and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios (Raging Bull). Its foreword is written by Amitabh Bachchan.

The photographs are on display till October 23 at Tao Art Gallery, Worli.
