Farhan Akhtar is still waiting to see his debut movie on screen.

Farhan Akhtar may be basking in the success that he has scaled with his direction and acting, but there is one low point in his career he would love to convert into a high point. The acclaimed actor is still anxiously waiting for the release of The Fakir of Venice which would have marked his acting debut.

The project, directed by Anand Surapur, had Farhan team up with Annu Kapoor and Kamal Sidhu. The project, however, went underground and has not seen the light of the day. Meanwhile, Farhan made hi debut with Rock On!! that became a roaring hit in cosmopolitan cities.

“It is really sad what has happened to The Fakir... I’m still eagerly waiting to see it release and look at the audience reactions as it was meant to be my debut movie as an actor. It was a challenging role and a project that I’m very happy and proud of being part of. I hope the producers look into things and it can open in theatres,” Farhan says.

He adds: “I’m proud of all the movies that I have done. I choose roles because I like them and never have a thought in mind that if it doesn’t do well or something goes wrong with it, I will start cribbing.”

Peeking into the fakir...
The Fakir
is a bilingual black comedy/drama in English and Hindi. It is based on a real life story of an Indian con man who is hired to find a fakir who can bury himself in sand for an installation art project in Venice. The man passes off a poor slum dweller from Mumbai as a fakir and cons the European art world successfully. A hilarious film with a quirky plot, when news that Farhan was doing The Fakir..., it created widespread anticipation.
