Thank you, Dad, says Shraddha Kapoor

It was Shraddha Kapoor’s dad, Shakti Kapoor who helped her bag a film with film-maker Yash Chopra’s banner. Not literally, but sources say that during the audition of her upcoming film, Shraddha was asked to do imitate the way her father would say ‘aaooo’ in his previous films. As luck would have it, Shraddha was apparently a master at imitating her dad.

“The lead character pretty much carries the story of the film forward. So, when it came to the casting, we needed someone who was not just a good looker and dancer, but also someone who could act well,” says a source at the production house.

The audition was really important because film-maker Aditya Chopra had apparently decided that whoever bags the role will also be taken on for a three film contract. So, you can imagine the amount of importance this audition had for Shraddha. “At first it was just another audition with a big brand. But when the three film deal was announced, the pressure levels went up considerably! Naturally, it turned out to be a gruelling audition process, spread across seven days. The candidates had to perform five intense scenes. They had to display their talent through a massive breakdown, three dances, and the like,” the source adds.
Apparently, when Shraddha was asked to imitate her dad in front of the camera, she was elated and it wast the perfect imitation that helped her bag the role eventually.

“Shraddha is a talented actor, but it was more than just her acting talent that got her the role. Ashish Patil, the producer, is a big fan of her father and that is why he asked her to do an impromptu imitation. When they saw her get into the character without a moment’s hesitation, they were convinced,” the source adds. Shraddha then apparently started mouthing almost every famous dialogue of her dad’s films.

“Shraddha also enacted the the “Crime-master Go-Go”,  the “Balmaaaaa” and the “Nandu sabka bandhu” scenes from her dad’s films. She basically captured his on screen personalities  and turned out to be someone with no inhibitions,” the source concludes.
