Sushmita Sen’s most cherished role

Actress Sushmita Sen has various facets to her personality. After having won a beauty pageant the leggy lass went on to try her luck in acting and not too long ago she took on the role of an entrepreneur too.

But ask Sen as to which part is she more happy playing — that of an actor or a businesswoman and she promptly says, “Neither!”

Sush says that nothing gives her as much joy as playing mommy to two of her adopted daughters. “Being a mother is actually a full-time job. It’s more challenging than being an actor, a producer or an entrepreneur. Being a mom is like being a mentor and a full time job in itself and the challenges you face at work are nothing compared to that of being a mom,” says Sen.

She adds that though she has her eyes set on many projects at one go, it’s playing mom that she has the highest regard for.

“It has the deepest emotional connect for me. Yes, I’m busy with umpteen number of things but the only place my heart truly beats is when I am with my two daughters. They are my life and my world. My mantra is that everything can wait till tomorrow but when it comes to my responsibilities as a mom, it cannot,” says Sen.

And where does acting figure in all of this? “Amidst juggling several things I’m also trying to remain an actor, but I honestly don’t know for how long I can keep it up. I don’t want to do commercial films just for the heck of it. As I see it, every three months if you are lucky, every six months if you are unlucky and a few months in a year, if you are very unlucky goes into staying away from home to make a film. I don’t think I’m ready to stay away for that long from my kids now. So if I take up a film now, it has to be something that has really blown my mind out,” says Sen.

But till Sen finds the script that will shake the ground of her feet, we’ll have to be content just catching glimpses of her when she turns up at city events.
