Song and dance routines in Bollywood not unrealistic: Katrina Kaif

After the song 'Sheila Ki Jawaani' made her the Queen of item numbers, of sorts, actress Katrina Kaif says that she thinks that Bollywood song and dance routines are an integral part of the Bollywood films and can never be termed as ‘unrealistic’.

“I don’t think they are unrealistic. In fact, I’d actually discard the opinion that Bollywood song and dance routines make a film unrealistic. These are the kind of movies we (Indians) like and it is very much the way we are. People who say that such routines are removed from reality have limited vision,” combats Kaif who had recently been the judge of an online reality dance competition.

According to Kaif, she loves acting but that doesn’t mean that she loves dancing any less. “You know, a French national won the first prize for the online Bollywood dance competition which I judged. I’ve noticed that Bollywood dances have huge global appeal,” she says.

According to the actress, only in those countries where there is no significant Hindi speaking population are markets where Bollywood has not been able to make inroads till now. “You can’t blame them — they don’t speak Hindi. But I still think there’s a huge market out there for Bollywood films that is waiting to be explored. I know that quite a few of us are exploring newer avenues to market our films and I think Bollywood is just going to go bigger than what it actually is at the moment,” says the beauty.

Kaif says that judging a dance competition was a great experience and that she had had done it on the request for the airline that she endorses. “I did it as the brand ambassador of the airline I endorse and I must say that seeing the whole world dance to our tunes was quite an experience. I would love to be a judge again for similar things but I honestly don’t think being a judge on TV is a option for me now,” she says.
